  • Q. How do I order or request a design proposal and quote?
    A. Through our Contact Us form. That is the very first step to getting a custom little free library of your own! There are a lot of details and options to discuss and we’re always happy to go over them until you are completely satisfied with every detail before you commit to ordering.
  • Q. How much does a library cost?
    A. The cost of a mini-me custom library includes a base fee (determined by the actual size of the library, typically between $400 and $475), a design fee (typically $25 to $200, depending on the complexity of the design), plus individual costs for certain add-ons or extras such as chimneys, dormers, siding, windows, post toppers, dog treat boxes, custom signs and solar lighting. While most of our libraries end up in the $700 to $900 range (not including shipping or installation), some of our more magnificent creations can easily end up in the $1000 to $2000 range. For more information on pricing see Basic Prices and Options/Add-On's
  • Q. How do I pay?
    A. Currently we accept cash, personal check, cashier's check, debit card, MasterCard, Visa or Paypal. We require a deposit up front (typically half the estimated cost of the library) and the remaining balance is due at the time of installation or prior to shipping.
  • Q. Do you install? How much does installation cost?
    A. Yes! We install throughout the Greater Spokane Area and beyond. Installation includes a 4"x4" treated post, post topper, all necessary hardware and labor: With cement (typically a two-day install) . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . $150 Without cement (same-day install) . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . .$100
  • Q. Am I required to call 811 (Call Before You Dig) prior to installing my library?
    A. Yes! By law any time you dig down more than 12" you must call 811 at least three business days before you plan to dig. Typically we only dig down 18" so it is very unlikely that we'd hit anything, but it's really not worth the liability if you don't call.
  • Q. Do you ship? How much does shipping cost?
    A. Yes! We ship nation-wide. But we can often offer delivery throughout the western-most states for about the same cost as shipping. Shipping costs are determined by the size of the package and the destination zip code. When we provide you with a quote for our proposed design it will include estimated shipping. Here are a few examples of shipping costs: Library A ships in one day to Seattle for $68.61 Library A ships in 5 days to New York for $137.59 Library B ships in one day to Seattle for $151.21 Library B ships in 5 days to New York for $229.92 (UPS pricing effective Oct. 2024)
  • Q. How long will it take before my library is ready to install or ship?
    A. We generally estimate that it takes between 4 and 5 weeks from start to finish. This time may vary depending on the size and complexity of the library ordered. 2022 update: Be advised that our current wait list is approximately two years out!!! While we do our very best to complete orders as quickly as possible, please keep in mind that each library is individually built and painted, and for the best possible quality, that takes time! Delivery dates given are approximate only, and may be changed due to weather or other factors that are out of our control, including delays in receiving special order items such as siding or 3D print jobs.
  • Q. How hard would it be for me to install my library myself?
    A. It's truly not that difficult. If you're purchasing one of our smaller libraries you can also purchase a post topper which comes pre-drilled with all required hardware to make the task even easier! A post topper fits snuggly on top of a 4"x4" post. If you have a Home Depot nearby you can even purchase a 4 1/2' 4"x4" deck post that requires no cutting! We send detailed installation instructions with each library. These instructions are also posted in our DIY section.
  • Q. Can I expect a quick response to my emails? (Added May 2024)
    A. Unfortunately, at the current time the answer is no. The sheer volume of emails we receive on a daily basis are beyond our current capabilities. Demand for our libraries has increased far beyond our expectations and our expansion efforts are very slow going. To say that we are experiencing growing pains would be an understatement! The best we can do at this time is apologize and thank you for your patience. We promise that the end result will be worth the wait!!!
